David Danciu, President
A resident of the southwest quarter of our city, David was born and raised in Gary, Indiana where he worked in a steel mill. Since moving to California in 1970, David has worked with fire equipment and as a carpenter in residential construction. A Chula Vista resident since 1989, he soon came to realize what a great place this is to live. According to David, "Civic associations are an important link between residents and government. We all have a duty to volunteer where and when we can to help improve our community”

Brian Lightbody
Brian lives in Chula Vista's Sunbow community.  He has lived, worked, played, raised a family, attended school, and worshipped in Chula Vista for most of his life.  He is a graduate of Bonita Vista High School and the San Diego Electrical Industry Apprenticeship.  Brian is employed at the San Diego County Water Authority, with direct responsibility for all electrical, electronic, industrial communications and remote operation.  In addition to being on the Crossroads II Board of Directors, Brian is enrolled in a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration program. 

Gloria Cazares, Events Coordinator
A "border girl from Imperial/Mexicali Valley", Gloria is now a resident of Otay Ranch. A graduate of the American Graduate School of International Management -Thunderbird, (also known as the "T-Bird School") in Glendale, Arizona, her career has been in teaching and international business. She is an active member of several civic associations and enjoys walking with her husband around the green open space areas of our city.

Jim Peterson
Born and reared in the state of Washington, Jim and his wife have lived in their home near Southwestern College since 1973.  Jim is a Navy veteran, serving as an airborne air controller.  He holds a Master's Degree from the University of Washington in Urban and Regional Planning and has worked as a city planner in six different cities, five cities in California and one in Colorado, over a period of thirty-two years, retiring in 1994.  One of those cities is Chula Vista, where he served as Director of Planning from 1973 to 1982.  Jim has a daughter and a son and three grandchildren, all residing in San Diego County.

Patricia Aguilar (non-voting)
A resident of Chula Vista for 22 years, Pat sits as  a member of the Chula Vista City Council.  She has a long history of community activism and served as President of Crossroads II from 2003 until 2009.  Pat has an M.A. from UCLA in Architecture & Urban Planning.  She is mother to three grown children and two step-children.  Pat and her husband Nick live in the Sweetwater area of the city.

Peter Watry, Vice-President, Newsletter Editor
Originally from Glendale, California, Peter and his wife Susan moved to northwest Chula Vista in 1961 for the opening of then brand-new Southwestern College.  Peter taught Economics at SWC for 35 years.  As community activists, Peter and Susan were leaders in Citizens Concerned for Chula Vista (CCCV) I, CCCV II (1970s), and the original Crossroads (1980s and 1990s).  Peter’s motto:  “You win some, lose most, but it is very gratifying to speak on behalf of residents and know you have done something to help make Chula Vista a better place to live.”

Sam Longanecker, Secretary
Sam and his wife Barbara live in College Estates.  Retired from the U. S. Department of Agriculture/Homeland Security, Sam has lived all over the country.  While living in Hawaii, he witnessed what uncontrolled growth can do to a beautiful place like Waikiki.  He enjoyed and appreciated the small town atmosphere and sense of the importance of community and family in Battle Creek, Michigan.   In El Paso, Texas, he experienced what it's like to live in the midst of a wildly expanding suburban population.  Sam holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington State University, and he and Barbara have two grown children.  In addition to having the hardest job on the Crossroads II Board of Directors, Sam works as a consultant for an import broker and serves our city as a member of the Mobile Home Rent Review Commission. 

Susan Watry, Membership Coordinator
Susan and her husband Peter came to Chula Vista in 1961 when Peter accepted a faculty position at Southwestern College.   In 1962 they bought their first home, in northwest Chula Vista, where they continue to live today.  Their first son was born in 1963, followed closely by a second son and a daughter. According to Susan:  "Our love affair with Chula Vista has gone on for nearly 50 years.  Our roots are deep."    

Todd Glanz, Treasurer
Todd, his wife Irma and their three handsome sons live in Eastlake.  Born San Diego's Hillside Hospital and raised in Chula Vista, Todd attended Cook Elementary School, Hilltop High School and Southwestern College.  Not able to continue his education further in south bay, Todd attended Yale University. Now a practicing attorney, Todd is also a mediator and Judge Pro-Tem.  In addition to keeping the books for the Crossroads II treasury, Todd is an Ethics Commissioner for City of Chula Vista and active in the San Diego County Bar Association. 

Valerie Dixon, Newsletter Copywriter
Also an Eastlake resident, Valerie is a graduate of UCLA (major: Latin American Studies) and serves as the President of the Antigua Homeowner's Association.  An employee of UCSD for 20 years, Valerie is Director of UCSD's Conflict of Interest Office.  In addition to serving on the Crossroads II Board of Directors, Valerie is an avid race walker and novice practitioner of Egyptian Oriental ( aka, belly) dance.  Shake it Valerie!
